What is the South Texas Job Zone?
South Texas Job Zone is a resume database. This is a tool that is free of charge and allows employers to search for potential job candidates. The aim is to promote economic growth in the lower Rio Grande Valley.
Can I find job opportunities on South Texas Job Zone?
While South Texas Job Zone gears itself so that employers may find resumes of job seekers they take interest in, employers may also post jobs to which job seekers may apply.
As an employer, can I post available positions on South Texas Job Zone?
Employers can create and manage jobs. Each job will go through an approval process by the South Texas Job Zone staff. Once approved, the job posting will be active for 30 days. During this month, the employer may extend or decrease the expiration date.
How can I remove available jobs from the site?
A job posting always remains available to an employer. However, any employer has the option of expiring a job, thus preventing job seekers from viewing said job. Should the position again become available, the employer may renew the job, extending the expiration date for another month.
Is my contact information kept confidential as an applicant and as an employer? (personal info for resume person and contact info for manager)
Job Seekers have the option of setting their profile to public or private. When set to public, potential employers see the job seeker’s contact information when viewing resumes. When set to private, the contact information will be hidden from the employer, but the employer may still add the resume to a list of resumes, after which a job seeker can approve the display of contact information, or deny and be removed from this list. Job Seekers only see the employer’s mission and vision if available. The seeker may apply for any job postings the employer has posted, and then the employer is responsible for contacting the seeker.
Can other job seekers view my resume?
No, only employers have the ability to view resumes.
How will an employer find my resume?
Employers have a resume search screen where they may filter by certain criteria such as career preferences and experience. When they find an interesting resume, they add that resume to a watch list. If the job seeker’s profile has been marked as private, all contact information remains hidden until the seeker approves the request.
Will I be notified by South Texas Job Zone when an employer selects my resume?
The South Texas Job Zone has an alert system in place giving job seekers information on resume views and whether or not they have been added to a list. In addition, the job seeker has a management interface allowing for removal from that list, or approve being on the list if the job seeker’s account has been flagged as private.
How will an employer contact me?
Once added and approved to the resume list or once a job seeker applies to an available position, the employer will be able to see the job seekers contact information. At this point, the responsibility falls on the employer to contact the job seeker.
